Description:
A Rare Legacy in the History of MusicThe details of the man Jacques Morel are not known. We do not know if he was a professional viol player himself, and only two of his works have survived, but we know that he was born in about 1680 and died in the 1730s, and that a collection of his works was published in Versailles in 1709, suggesting that he was active at the court of Louis XIV. In any case, Morel's works echo a very poetic world. It is a precious legacy of a time when viol music was at its most flourishing. King International
