Are you looking for a new boutique-style, "Marshal-amp-in-a-box" type overdrive and distortion pedal, with never-before-seen features? Then we have just the thing for you!
A short time ago, both Jackson Audio and Youtube sensation Mateus Asato came together to produce his own signature distortion pedal - the awesome El Guapo.
Jackson Audio have taken this design a few steps further though, including the introduction of an interchagenable distortion module, and are pround to announce the amazing ASABI - a modular distortion and overdrive stompbox, with full MIDI control options, and the company's very own Gain Cycle technology.
As one of the premier boutique effects makers, Jackson Audio are constantly at the forefront of effects-design innovation.
For this pedal they have included the Clipping Styles feature, which is a 3-band Active EQ to max-out the pedal's tonal flexibility, alongside their famous Gain Cycle circuit and full MIDI control.
This all comes together to help make Asabi one of the most versatile Overdrive/Distortion pedals ever created.
As mentioned above, the high-gain, hard-clipping distortion circuit in this pedal is based on the legendary Marshall JCM800 amplifier.
This results in a very open, crisp tone that's awesome for playing 80s-style hard rock or modern high-gain metal.
However, unlike pretty much any distortion pedal that's come before, you can replace this module with a selection of new options that will soon be available from Jackson Audio.
Complimenting the high-gain JCM800 sounds, there's also a soft-clipping circuit that's designed to recreate the smooth overdrive and touch responsiveness of a vintage Marshall Plexi.
This circuit features its own true bypass loop, and can be used separately from the Distortion channel, making it ideal for boosting the front end for even more gain.
In any other pedal, those two circuits alone would make it a winner, but Jackson Audio have taken things a step further with the inclusion of four different clipping mode Styles.
Each of these modes can drastically alter the tone and feel of both circuits with settings such as 'Vintage Marshal', 'Classic Screamer', 'Asymmetric' or 'Symmetrical' clipping, making it the foundation of pretty much and distortion tone you could wish for.
One of the key features of this pedal is the awesome Gain Cycle, which divides the Gain knob setting into four equal, instantly accessible parts that you can cycle through by simply pressing both footswitches at the same time.
As with all of Jackson Audio's multi-option drive pedals, a unique circuit matches the output level of the pedal in its various clipping diode styles.
In other words, it makes no difference which of the four clippping options you're using, your volume level will remain constant, allowing you to alter how the pedal reacts with either your amp or any other pedal in your rig
As a sweet finishing touch, Jackson Audio have equipped with Asabi with a MIDI control input socket giving you complete control over the pedal's various features with an external controller.
This function allows pin-point control over Clipping Styles, Gain-Cycle options, Drive EQ options, and even ON/OFF for both of the circuits, making this one of the most powerful and comprehensive analog drive pedals on the market today.
