Description:
From the reign of the Sun King Louis XIV, when the kingdom of France underwent a rapid refinement in terms of culture and art, to the outbreak of the French Revolution, clavecin music experienced a major development in France over a period of about 80 years. The "Portelet," which was born from a fusion of literary taste and music, was a symbol of the salon culture of this period and a florid presence. This album features the music of four of the leading composers of the porte-lettres: F. Couperin, Rameau, Folkl, and Dufry, who died the day after the outbreak of the French Revolution. Enjoy the best of the rococo culture that flourished at the Palace of Versailles, performed to perfection by world-renowned harpsichordist Shinichiro Nakano. [Comment courtesy of Wakabayashi Studio].
